You must be over 21
years of age to take this course, which can comprise of 3, 4 or 5 days
duration, dependent on previous riding experience and ability. Training
and testing is conducted on 125cc and 500cc motorcycles.
Training will commence
on our off-road training area using a 125cc machine to ensure that you
are familiar with the handling and controls of the bike and that you are
able to carry out various manoeuvres safely. Once this has been
satisfactorily completed you will then progress to on-road training,
still using a 125cc machine. This is to ensure that road
Awareness,
hazard perception and basic
manoeuvres can all be completed
safely and competently.
You will then move on to using a
500cc motorcycle, once again in
an off-road environment in order to familiarise you with the different
handling characteristics of a bigger bike. After this the on-road
training begins, leading up to your practical test. We guarantee that
by this time you will have been taught everything you need to know in
order to pass your test.
You will be in radio
contact with your Instructor at all times during your on-road training.
Freedom Rider Training use Auto-Com radios, which we believe to be the
most advanced and reliable system available at this time.
Your Driving Standards
Agency practical test is usually taken on the last day of your course
(although this can be arranged for a later time, if required). You will
be taken to the Test Centre by your Instructor in plenty of time for the
test (which will have been pre-booked by us).
Please remember that in
order to take a practical test, a Theory Test
must have already been
passed. You will need to have your Theory Test Certificate, CBT
Certificate and Driving Licence (including the paper counterpart if
credit card style licence is held) with you. If you hold an old style
driving licence then you will also need photographic identification,
i.e., your passport.
If you successfully
pass your test then you are allowed to ride unsupervised on the road,
carry pillion passengers and discard your L-plates.
Should you be
unsuccessful, then you can re-take your test on another day. You will
not have to pay for any further training, only the re-test fee and bike
hire.
There will never be
more than 2 students to 1 Instructor on Direct Access Courses. even
whilst you are 125cc machines. |
