This course can comprise of 3, 4 or 5 days, depending
on previous experience and ability. In some cases, if Compulsory Basic
Training (CBT) has been completed prior to the start of the course, 2
days are sufficient. If you are unsure what length of course you need we
can offer you a training assessment, which is free of charge. Please let
us know prior to booking your course if this is required.
You will train and test on a
125cc motorcycle. You
may use your own motorcycle if you wish, or you may use one of ours. We
currently use Honda CG 125 machines.
We need to know your requirements at the time of
booking your course.
Training will commence on our off-road training area
to ensure that you are familiar with the handling and controls of the
machine and that you are able to carry out various manoeuvres safely.
You will then proceed to the
on-road training, where
you will be in radio contact with your Instructor at all times.
Freedom
Rider Training use Auto-Com radios,
which we believe to be the most advanced and reliable bike-to-bike radio
system available at this time. This is
to ensure your safety.
You will also be required to wear hi-viz tabards, for your personal
safety.
The last day of your course will include the Driving
Standards Agency practical test (if required). You will be taken to the
Test Centre by your Instructor in plenty of time for your test (which
will have been pre-booked by us).
Please remember that in order
to take a practical test, a Theory
Test must have already been
passed. You will need to bring with you your Theory Test Certificate,
CBT Certificate, Driving Licence (including the paper counterpart if a
credit card style licence is held), and photographic identification
(i.e., your passport), if you hold an old style driving licence.
If you successfully pass your test then you are
allowed to ride unsupervised on the road,
carry pillion passengers and
discard your L-plates. You will however, be restricted to riding
machines producing 33 bhp or less for a period of 2 years, after which
time you can ride any motorcycle with
no requirement to do a further test.
Should you be unsuccessful, then you can re-take your
test on another day. You will not have to pay for any further training,
only the re-test fee and bike hire.
